We believe that in a wealthy world, poverty is unjustifiable and preventable. We believe that the present state of inequality and injustice must be challenged, and that with the right help, poor people can change their lives for the better.
Our vision
Oxfam’s vision is a just world without poverty. We envision a world in which people can influence decisions which affect their lives, enjoy their rights, and assume their responsibilities as full citizens of a world in which all human beings are valued and treated equally.
Our purpose
The purpose of Oxfam is to help create lasting solutions to the injustice of poverty. We are part of a global movement for change, one that empowers people to create a future that is secure, just, and free from poverty.

Our goals
Our work seeks one overall outcome: to bring about positive change in the lives of people living in poverty.
To realise our vision, we're guided by our central commitments and have set ourselves a series of goals which are outlined in our 2007–2013 strategic plan (PDF, 2.5MB).
