ACT State Committee

All activities and events in the ACT are coordinated by our ACT State committee. The state committee is made up of members of Oxfam Australia. Activities and events throughout the year include the local walk against want, a Christmas fair (held on the last Saturday in November at Canberra's Albert Hall), and a series of campaign cafes. There are also a number of group activities held throughout the year - see the groups page for more information.

A monthly email update is distributed, announcing any Oxfam events in and around Canberra. If you would like to be included on this list, please contact the ACT Committee.

If you have some spare time and want to put your skills, talents, energy and passion to work for Oxfam, register now or view volunteer positions currently available.

Activities

The ACT Committee is the hub of Oxfam Australia activities in the ACT. The Committee coordinates Oxfam Australia activities in the ACT, including the annual walk against want, the Christmas Fair (last Saturday in November), and a series of talks and other events during the year. The Committee supports local Groups in their activities, and facilitates communication between ACT supporters and the national Board of Oxfam Australia.

2005 was a full year for the Committee, which runs on an all-volunteer basis. Support from the World Neighbours Education Project and the Oxfam Shop were invaluable in facilitating the work of the ACT Committee throughout the year.

The Committee meets on the first Monday of every month. An Annual General Meeting of ACT Members, and election of new ACT Committee Members is held each November.
