Thanks to all of the participating restaurants and to everyone who ate out on World Food Day, Sunday 16 October, for Shout the Horn. Together we raised more than $64,000 for the East Africa Food Crisis Appeal. With the Australian Government matching individual donations, that gives us a grand total of $119,335.60! Well done to everyone involved and thanks for dining out on World Food Day!
Enjoy some photos from the event and this great video by the talented Richard Kendall:
The affected area in the Horn of Africa
Famine and drought in Africa
More than 13 million people in the Horn of Africa are currently facing desperate food shortages following the worst drought in 60 years. Oxfam is there — supporting more than 1 million people with life-saving water, basic sanitation and food, and aiming to reach another 3.5 million in coming months. Read more about our response.
What you can do
Shout the Horn has finished but you can still help by making a donation online and help save lives in the Horn of Africa. The Australian Government has pledged to match donations to our Horn of Africa Food Crisis Appeal, so every dollar you donate will be doubled until 30 November.
