Correspondence between Oxfam Australia and OceanaGold (formerly Climax Mining)

Since Didipio community members first requested the Mining Ombudsman investigate their grievances relating to the Didipio mine project, the Mining Ombudsman has repeatedly raised the concerns of Didipio community members with the Australian-based owner (now OceanaGold), as detailed in the chronology.

To date, OceanaGold has denied the validity of these community concerns and has not sought to resolve the grievances documented in the Mining Ombudsman Case Report: Didipio Gold and Copper Mine (2007) (PDF 2MB).

In the interests of transparency, correspondence between Oxfam Australia's Mining Ombudsman and OceanaGold since November 2006 is provided below. Also provided are copies of resolutions opposing the mine project which have been passed by the Didipio Barangay Council, Association of Barangay Captains and Municipal Council.
