Corporate support
Oxfam Australia / Origin Energy partnership
Oxfam Australia is one of seven charity partners benefiting from Origin Energy's Matched Giving program.
Matched Giving enables Origin staff to donate to Oxfam through payroll deductions. As an incentive, Origin then matches these regular contributions to double the support. Reflecting Origin employees' interests, staff can choose to support Oxfam's work in the Pacific or at home with Australian Indigenous communities.
Origin selected Oxfam as a charity partner with a view to a long-term commitment, beyond the employee Matched Giving program.

In Papua New Guinea, Oxfam Australia focuses on the impacts of mining, environmental issues, and HIV and AIDS.

Sarah Clarke, Origin's Community Investment Manager, said, "This partnership is seeing both organisations developing together and seeking new opportunities to create win-win outcomes and 'money can't buy' sort of value."
Origin has also sought to provide their employees with meaningful volunteering opportunities and find other ways in which they can support Oxfam's work. Even in the early stages of this partnership, Origin has been able to provide further support to Oxfam in a number of ways, including- supporting Origin employees' commitment to assist victims of the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami by matching their donations to appeals, dollar for dollar. Origin staff donated more than $86,000, so this provided an extra $172,000 to be put towards the cause, on top of an initial corporate donation of $100,000 and the practical support of funding six temporary staff members at Oxfam to help with the busy period;
- supporting Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign by supplying Fairtrade coffees from East Timor, as well as Fairtrade teas and hot chocolates in all Australian office kitchens; and
- facilitating staff participation and volunteering with the walk against want, Oxfam Trailwalker and the Oxfam International Youth Parliament Taste Fundraising dinner.
