What is Coffee Break?
Coffee Break is an annual event that began in 2007 in support of Fairtrade, that takes place during Fairtrade Fortnight. Fairtrade is about paying farmers a fair price for their produce – enabling sustainable production and providing income security for producers.
In 2009 Coffee Break included more than 500 events hosted by ordinary Australians who wanted to promote Fairtrade in their schools, workplaces and communities. A typical Coffee Break event is often a morning or afternoon tea.
Event organisers can register their event online at www.oxfam.org.au/coffee-break from April each year. Oxfam Australia supports event organisers by sending them a Coffee Break pack including a range of resources (such as the Coffee Break DVD, event promotional posters, brochures, discount vouchers to purchase Fairtrade tea and coffee etc).
