Oxfam Horizons February 2003
This edition - my last as editor, our cover story is the coffee crisis sending literally millions of poor families into greater poverty worldwide. Hamed Sahehussman is the 55 year old coffee farmer from Jimma, Ethiopia, featured on our cover. "It is unfair that they buy our coffee at a small price," he says, "but in Australia you pay up to $3 for one cup. We're in a critical situation." The coffee crisis is exacerbating an already dire situation in Ethiopia, where 14.3 million people now face starvation.
