Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people campaigning to protect human rights. Getting involved with international human rights advocacy is a way of reducing the factors which force people to leave their countries and become refugees.
RAS – Researches for Asylum Seekers
The Researchers for Asylum Seekers (RAS) group is a voluntary and non-profit group concerned about the current treatment of asylum seekers in Australia. Officially affiliated with the School of Behavioural Science, University of Melbourne, RAS aims to raise awareness of the plight of asylum seekers through forums, conferences, research and the distribution of information on asylum seeker issues.
A Just Australia
A Just Australia is a national policy lobby group campaigning for just policies and programs for refugees and asylum seekers. Launched in July 2002, A Just Australia brings together over 11,500 individual supporters, 120 non-governmental organisations and over 70 prominent Australian Patrons. They campaign for just and compassionate treatment of refugees, consistent with the human rights standards that Australia has developed and endorsed. This campaign incorporates a series of public awareness activities including: lobbying in Canberra both to the Minister as well as individual politicians; public events and meetings; research and analysis on current issues both for submissions, as well as a monthly newsletter keeping advocates and supporters informed of the latest developments and actions they can take. Members, patrons and other refugee support organisations and individuals have contributed to the campaign by providing resources and active lobbying.
ANCORW Co-operative Limited, the Australian National Committee on Refugee Women
ANCORW is a lobbying, advocacy and research group which works with and for refugee women and their families in order to bring about change in the refugee system and to enhance their ability to rebuild their lives. At the national level, ANCORW, lobbies for changes in domestic law, social policy and for improved service provision. At an international level, ANCORW lobbies at the United Nations for changes in international law, United Nations Declarations. ANCORW is committed to undertaking research into issues which adversely affect the lives of refugee women and their dependant children, and to use this research to lobby for change. ANCORW is committed to empower refugee women to have control over their own lives and to advocate on their own behalf through the provision of advocacy training and opportunities to participate in national and international forums.
Refugee Action Committee (Canberra, ACT)
The Refugee Action Committee is part of a network of concerned citizens around Australia seeking the fair and humane treatment of refugees in Australia. They are working to raise public awareness about the government's obligations to give refuge to asylum seekers and treat them with dignity and humanity. The ACT Refugee Action Committee is composed of individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and is not associated with any political party.

Refugee Claimants Support Centre (Brisbane, Qld)
The Refugee Claimants Support Centre supports asylum seekers in Brisbane, Australia. Services provided by the centre include a drop-in centre, English tuition, emotional support, information and referral, limited emergency relief, computer skills, and assistance with accommodation, food, employment and health laimants, volunteers, staff and friends often get together for a picnic or a camp.

The Centre for Advocacy Support and Education for Refugees Inc (CASE for Refugees) is currently the only community legal centre in Western Australia providing specialist legal assistance to refugees and asylum seekers.
