There are many ways to get involved in our work but joining an Oxfam event is definitely one of the easiest, not to mention the most fun. We have events to suit all tastes and ages, from large-scale fundraising events like Oxfam Trailwalker to awareness raising events like National Close the Gap Day to smaller state-based events run by local Oxfam groups.
Some of the big events
Oxfam Trailwalker is the world’s greatest team event. Held in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, teams of four walk 100km of rugged Australian bush in less than 48 hours and raise millions for Oxfam’s development work around the world. There are now shorter distance options available in some states. Find out more about Oxfam Trailwalker.
National Close the Gap Day
Every year we encourage people to hold their own event on National Close the Gap Day to raise awareness about the 17 year life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. Find out more about National Close the Gap Day.
Walk Against Want
Walk Against Want began to raise awareness of the plight of women in the world’s poorest communities who have to walk long distances each day to collect clean water. It has since become one of our most successful fundraising events. Find out more about Walk Against Want.
