They are an incredibly passionate and inspiring group of young change makers who participated in Oxfam Australia’s first youth leadership program in 2015/2016. Join the amazing bunch of leaders and apply for the 2017 leadership program.

ACT

Adam Silverwood


Adam Silverwood is originally from a town called Bega and he is now studying a double degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics/Law (Honours). In his spare time he enjoys listening to music, playing sport and acting. He is super passionate about innovation.


Georgia Stewart


Georgia Stewart is excited to be joining Oxfam as an Ambassador and getting involved in some of the many amazing campaigns. She has a strong interest in sustainable development and a range of other social justice issues. Georgia is currently studying a Bachelor of International Relations at the Australian National University.


NSW

Jenna Schroder


Jenna Schrodes is studying a BPESS undergraduate degree at Sydney University.
She is a passionate campaigner for abolishing poverty and giving all people equal opportunities, locally and globally. Jenna aims to learn Chinese by the time she finished her Masters and to continue her commitment to the creative arts.


Hannah Elten


Hannah Elten grew up in a small town in Germany before she decided to explore the world and study Politics and International Relations at SciencesPo Paris in France.
She currently majors in Political Economy & Asian Studes at The University of Sydney.
She joined Oxfam because she firmly believes in the possibility of a global community of solidarity and mutual understanding.


Udit Pillay


Udit Pillay is in his 4th year of Laws & International Global Studies at The University of Sydney. He is passionate about refugee rights and Australia’s foreign aid commitments and hopes that his experience with Oxfam will help him in campaigning for change around these issues.


QLD

Alycia Kawitzki


Alycia Kawitzki is studying a Bachelor of International Studies at The University of Queensland, majoring in Peace and Conflict Studies. She is in her 6th year in the Australian Air Force Cadets and is the head of the Women’s Portfolio at Oxfam UQ. Alycia is passionate about gender equality, inequality and Oxfam’s work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.


Charles Rolls


Charles Rolls is a public speaker, teenage life coach and has a diploma of counselling. He is currently operating his own Drug Awareness Program in local high schools and organisations. Charles recently organised a Close the Gap event and plans to hold many more community events with Oxfam.


Chelsea Wallis


Chelsea Wallis is a graduate Law, Politics and International Relations student. Having started university aged fifteen, she is a passionate advocate for gender equality and the power of using education to transform lives. Chelsea plans to use her studies in a policy role in law or foreign affairs and one day hopes to engage in a teaching role in academia.


Timothy Kariotis


Originally from Tasmania Timothy Kariotis is now living in Brisbane, where he struggles with the heat, and also studies Nutrition Dietetics, Exercise Science & Psychology. Timothy is very passionate about public health, mental health and gender equality as well as being involved with Oxfam. Timothy is also involved with The Red Cross and the One Woman Project.

Amelia Chaplin


Amelia Chaplin is passionate about the environment, ethical shopping and groovin’ to good tunes. She’s 19 years young and studying a Bachelor of Environment (Science) at Flinders University in South Australia. You’ll probably find her by the seaside, admiring the coast and almost always eating scrumptious fair trade chocolate.


Carmel Johnson


Carmel Johnson is 21 and studies Development Studies and Politics at The University of Adelaide. She is passionate about equality for all beings. In her spare time she reads books and eats copious amounts of vegan food.


VIC

Bridget McGivern


Bridget McGivern is an 18 year old from Geelong. She is honoured and excited to be part of the program and cannot wait to contribute to the amazing projects Oxfam leads in Australia and around the world. Her main passions are in the areas of sustainability and education.


Corina Ritchie


Corina Ritchie is a Yorta Yorta woman who is passionate about health, the environment and art. She is currently studying nutritional medicine and she hopes to heal, educate and empower community through nutrition and wellbeing.


Kim Handley


Kim Handley is a third year advertising student at RMIT. Though she is apprehensive about the ad industry she knows that creativity can be a strong force in creating social change. She is interested in bikes, coffee and fermented foods!


Louis Boyle-Bryant


Originally from the Northern Territory, Louis Boyle-Bryant is an Arts student at Monash University in Melbourne. Passionate about helping to empower those with less, Louis is looking forward to the opportunity of engaging with his community on an array of issues from labour rights to the environment and everything in between.


Rebekah de Keijzer


Rebekah de Keijzer is a 19 year old Law & International Studies student residing in
Melbourne. She is a passionate advocate for issues concerning the environment, people and the animals. She believes the solution to many current humanitarian issues lies in education, awareness and a belief that each person has within them the ability to create great change in the world.


Samuel Dariol


When he is not researching and writing his Honours thesis, Samuel Dariol campaigns with 350 Australia for divestment from fossil fuel industries, goes to theatre and cooks delicious vegan food. With a particular concern for strong action on climate change and global inequality, Samuel sees the work of Oxfam as well directed and vital. He is very much looking forward to this program.


WA

Chloe Dempsey


Chloe Dempsey is a Law, Politics and Chinese student who is passionate about corporate responsibility, gender equality and refugee rights. She is a kung-fu, baking and travel addict who believes in the power of social entreprise. When not involved in the above, Chloe is trying to learn languages and groovy dance moves.


Georgia Leyendekkers


Originally from Ausralind, West Aus, Georgia Leyendekkers studies a double degree in Behavioural Sciences/Arts in Fremantle. Specialising in Social Justice and Politics, Georgia has always had an inclination for progressive and positive social change. Georgia is excited to work with Oxfam and supports many of the partnerships involved with youth and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. Through Oxfam she sees her beliefs of eradicating poverty and implementing better human rights in practical and tangible programs
