Laurelle Keough, Head of Media and Internal Communications (Acting)
Laurelle leads Oxfam’s media team here in Australia, and is based in Melbourne.
The team covers all areas of Oxfam’s work and seeks to inform the public about our overseas aid and development programs, our response to humanitarian disasters and our advocacy work on issues such as inequality, labour rights, Indigenous rights and the effect of climate change in developing countries.
Prior to working at Oxfam, Laurelle was a media and marketing coordinator with Australian Red Cross, a publicist at ABC TV, and a publicist with Carlton TV in London. She has also been a print journalist in her home state of Queensland, as well as Media Manager at Griffith University.
Alice Plate, Advocacy and Campaigns Media Coordinator
Alice is Oxfam’s Advocacy and Campaigns Media Coordinator, based in Melbourne.
Alice handles media relating to Oxfam’s work on the Close The Gap campaign, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Program, inequality, climate change, food security, the GROW campaign, development banks and our work on the operation of Australian mines overseas.
Prior to joining Oxfam, Alice was the Media and Communications Adviser to the Minister of Indigenous Health Warren Snowdon, National Communications and Media Manager for the Menzies School of Health Research in Darwin and a presenter and reporter for ABC Rural. Alice hails from an Indigenous community in far north South Australia.
Bianca Wordley, Fundraising and Public Relations Media Coordinator
Bianca is Oxfam’s Fundraising and Public Relations Media Coordinator, based in Adelaide. She can be contacted for all media enquiries relating to fundraising initiatives, such as Oxfam Unwrapped, the Melbourne International Comedy Gala and Oxfam Trailwalker.
Prior to working at Oxfam, Bianca worked as a senior journalist for ABC Radio, AAP, The Advertiser and the Independent Weekly. Most recently she has been a freelance writer for online publications, including The Hoopla, and she is the publisher of the award winning blog Bigwords.
Angus Hohenboken, International Programs and Emergencies Media Coordinator
Angus is Oxfam’s International Programs and Emergencies Media Coordinator based in Melbourne.
Angus leads the media relating to Oxfam’s response to emergencies, humanitarian crises and international program work, particularly those in South Africa, the Pacific, East Asia and South Asia.
Before joining Oxfam, Angus worked for three years as a freelance Europe correspondent, writing for the Herald Sun, The Daily Telegraph, The Courier Mail, The Adelaide Advertiser, and AAP, while producing independent documentary films. Prior to this he worked for The Australian’s Sydney bureau covering police and courts, and at The Mercury in Hobart, as a general news reporter.
Sara Pelvin, Marketing and Media Coordinator, Oxfam Shop
Sara is Oxfam’s Marketing and Media for Oxfam Shop, based in Adelaide.
She should be contacted for all media enquiries relating to Oxfam Shop including requests for product images and stories around Fair Trade and Oxfam Shop’s work with producer partners in over 40 countries around the world. Before joining Oxfam, Sara was the Marketing Coordinator for Australian manufacturing business, Tasman Sinkware.
