Laurelle Keough, Head of Media
Laurelle leads Oxfam’s media team in Australia, and is based in Melbourne.
The team covers all areas of Oxfam’s work and seeks to inform the public about our overseas aid and development programs, our response to humanitarian disasters and our advocacy work on issues such as inequality, labour rights, Indigenous rights and the effect of climate change in developing countries.
Laurelle was the Media Coordinator for Advocacy and Campaigns at Oxfam for eight years, before becoming Head of Media. Prior to joining Oxfam, Laurelle was a media and marketing coordinator with Australian Red Cross, a publicist at ABC TV, and a publicist with Carlton TV in London. She has also been a print journalist in her home state of Queensland, as well as Media Manager at Griffith University.
Dylan Quinnell, International Programs and Emergencies Coordinator
Based in Melbourne, Dylan leads media relating to Oxfam’s response to emergencies, humanitarian crises and international program work, particularly those in the Pacific, Southern Africa, East and South Asia.
Prior to joining Oxfam, Dylan worked at aid agency CARE Australia, child and family services organisation Berry Street and for World Vision New Zealand. Dylan has worked on responses to Cyclone Pam in Vanuatu, Cyclone Winston in Fiji, the Nepal earthquake and the Boxing Day Tsunami in Indonesia and was previously based in China and Indonesia.
Amanda Banks, Advocacy and Campaigns Media Coordinator
Amanda is Oxfam’s Advocacy and Campaigns Media Coordinator, based in Melbourne.
Amanda handles media relating to Oxfam’s work on tax and inequality, labour rights, the Close The Gap campaign, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Program, climate change, food security and Oxfam’s work on the operation of Australian mines overseas.
Prior to joining Oxfam, Amanda held positions as the Legal Affairs Editor and State Political Reporter at The West Australian. She has also worked as a journalist at The Australian and as journalist and chief of staff at The Kalgoorlie Miner.
Megan Giles, Fundraising Media Coordinator
Megan is Oxfam’s Fundraising Media Coordinator, based in Melbourne.
Megan handles media related to all aspects of Oxfam’s fundraising, including Unwrapped, Trailwalker, Melbourne International Comedy Gala and other events. Prior to working at Oxfam, Megan worked in supporter engagement within the Fundraising and Partnerships Department at Save the Children Australia.
She has worked as Communications Director for the Australian non-profit WhyDev, as a postgraduate researcher in postcolonial tourism in India, and previously had roles in local newspapers and online journalism covering music and foreign affairs as a freelancer.
Reneé Thompson, Media Coordinator
Reneé is Oxfam Australia’s part-time Media Coordinator, based in Melbourne.
Reneé supports media across the agency on key issues including humanitarian emergencies, international programs, inequality, workers’ rights, climate change, multinational tax avoidance and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs.
Reneé also works as a freelance journalist and reports on environmental matters for Thomson Reuters. She has held previous positions as a journalist at Private Media, the Bendigo Advertiser and the Riverine Herald.
Sara Pelvin, Marketing and Media Coordinator, Oxfam Shop
Sara is Oxfam’s Marketing and Media for Oxfam Shop, based in Adelaide.
She should be contacted for all media enquiries relating to Oxfam Shop including requests for product images and stories around Fair Trade and Oxfam Shop’s work with producer partners in over 40 countries around the world. Before joining Oxfam, Sara was the Marketing Coordinator for Australian manufacturing business, Tasman Sinkware.
