The crisis in Syria has raged for six years, during which time more than 300,000 people have been killed. More than 6.3 million people have been internally displaced from their homes and almost 5 million refugees have fled to neighbouring countries including Jordan and Lebanon. Almost three quarters of these refugees are women and children.
This is a crisis of staggering proportions, one that requires a massive international humanitarian response.
Oxfam has assisted more than 2.5 million people across Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, but the crisis continues to escalate. The situation continues to go from bad to worse with over 13.5 million people affected by the Syrian crisis and in need of humanitarian aid. Your donation is essential to help Oxfam provide access to food, water and sanitation.
Note: Should the funds raised exceed the amount required to meet the immediate and longer term needs of the people in the affected areas, Oxfam Australia will direct donations to our International Crisis Fund to enable us to rapidly address emergencies as they occur.
