Africa Crisis Appeal

A desperate and largely unknown humanitarian crisis is growing in the Lake Chad Basin region of West Africa. It is a result of the ongoing conflict with the group, Boko Haram and the military operations against them.

More than 2.6 million people have been forced to flee their villages. Over nine million people are in need of emergency aid.

Please donate today to help families affected by this terrible crisis get access to the basic essentials — clean water, food, and shelter — so they can remain healthy and safe.

People have seen their homes ruined, their lives completely disrupted. Children aren’t going to school, people can’t find enough food. Hundreds of thousands of people are going hungry. It is estimated that thousands of people have died already.

Oxfam is providing life-saving essentials like food and water in Niger and Chad to people who have fled their home and to the communities in which they are taking shelter.

Note: Should the funds raised exceed the amount required to meet the immediate and longer term needs of the people in the affected areas, Oxfam Australia will direct donations to our International Crisis Fund to enable us to rapidly address emergencies as they occur.
