In Palestine, people like Marwa are struggling to survive on the bare minimum of water and little to no sanitation. Marwa and her teenage daughter struggle to maintain privacy and hygiene in their crowded shelter. It’s a daily struggle to maintain hygiene, health and dignity without clean water.

Khadija, Syria

Khadija lives in a modest house without sanitation. The 2023 earthquake partially destroyed her home, leaving the family vulnerable. Without water, Khadija struggles to keep things clean for herself and her daughter, who is still traumatised by the earthquake and can’t sleep through the night.

We would set out at dawn, carrying heavy loads of water back home. The water we collected was not clean.”

Rawya, Yemen

Rawya supports her family by working multiple jobs amid Yemen’s economic crisis. Before Oxfam intervened and installed a solar-powered water system, Rawya had to walk long distances to secure unsafe drinking water for her family.

We just want to live... We’re tired... We have nothing left, even our home. It’s maybe the fifth time we’ve had to rebuild it.

Gloria, Lebanon

Gloria, her husband and their two cats was displaced from her home in South Lebanon after their house was bombed. When she fled, she struggled to find water on her way to a shelter in the north.
