Take action against inequality

Extreme economic inequality – one of the biggest barriers in the fight against poverty – is out of control and getting worse, with just 62 individuals now owning as much as the world’s poorest 3.6 billion people.

Australians are generous people, and as one of the wealthiest per capita nations in the world, we can and must help to reverse this shocking trend. But instead of rising to the challenge, the Abbott Government has instigated the largest aid cuts in Australian history and turned its back on the world’s most vulnerable people.

Right now, Australian aid is on a path to its lowest ever level, despite rapidly rising inequality and growing humanitarian need.

Oxfam Australia proudly supports the Campaign for Australian Aid, a joint initiative of the Make Poverty History and Micah Challenge coalitions – for all Australians who believe we can and should do more as a nation to end extreme poverty around the world.
