Emergency Action Alliance

EAA is an alliance of 15 Australian charities ready to assist when disaster strikes.

Oxfam is proud to be a founding member of the Emergency Action Alliance (EAA) established in 2021.

How does the alliance work

Emergency Action Alliance is a group of 15 leading international development organisations in Australia. All members of the EAA are experts in humanitarian aid and specialise in different areas of disaster response.

In times of emergency, the EAA will launch a targeted fundraising appeal under the Emergency Action Alliance banner. The money raised will be distributed across the EAA network to help save lives around the world.

By combining our expertise, we can turn the care and passion of our supporters into a targeted, streamlined response to deliver faster, more effective help when emergencies strike.

How are funds distributed?

Emergency Action Alliance funds the work of its 15 member charities, who deliver humanitarian aid directly or through trusted local partners.

The EAA uses a unique allocation process to direct funds to the agencies best positioned to respond in each emergency, helping them scale up quickly and reach more people. Member organisations cover the EAA’s running costs, which means every dollar raised through an EAA appeal goes straight back to them to carry out life‑saving work.

This gives Australians one clear, trusted way to help when disasters strike overseas — instead of having to choose between multiple charities in a moment of crisis.

When an appeal is launched, member agencies that are ready to respond submit a funding request outlining their capacity, planned activities and the resources needed, ensuring support goes where it can have the greatest impact.
