Internship placements

Internship placements at Oxfam Australia are a fantastic opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in the sector while gaining academic accreditation towards the completion of relevant studies.

Please note, internships at Oxfam may only be undertaken by students enrolled in Australian universities. Internships are a three-way formal agreement between Oxfam Australia, the tertiary institution, and the student. They are unpaid placements and can be taken up by students throughout the year.

Due to the nature of our work, we can only accept applications on a limited basis, and we do not accept a set intake each year.

We do not accept work experience students.

Current vacancies

All internship vacancies are only advertised through our volunteer vacancies page. We post opportunities throughout the year, so we encourage you to apply for any role that may suit your studies or align with your interests.

Please note, internship positions are advertised and appointed on an as-needed basis, which means we cannot guarantee any positions in advance. If there are no vacancies available on our volunteer database, we unfortunately do not have any opportunities available at that point in time.

Volunteer with us

In the meantime, please a take a look at volunteering opportunities! Volunteers are the backbone of our organisation and contribute to many areas of our organisation — in our offices, at events and in the community. They help raise funds, campaign for change, provide administrative support, support with running our events and offer their skills, time, and experience to help us carry out our work.

Our commitment: equal opportunity and diversity

We are committed to ensuring individuals are treated consistently and equitably, irrespective of their gender, ethnicity, political, religious, or philosophical allegiance, physical ability, family status, age, or sexual orientation. Operating within a diverse national and international community, we are committed to developing policies, practices and ways of working that support a diverse, inclusive and equitable culture.

Oxfam is a child safe organisation

We are committed to protecting the rights of all children to live safely, without fear of abuse or exploitation. For more information, please read our Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct.
