“My name is Josefa … [The savings group] is good for us because our money is kept there every week … I think this is good because the money is saved for six months, or a year, and we can use it later for something or the household.”

- Josefa, her husband Agapito and their children live in Timor-Leste. Before joining her Savings Group, she was not saving money.
- Josefa and Agapito were connected with Oxfam partner Kdadalak Sulimutuk Institute, who are working to tackle the economic and gender inequality women can face in their communities
- Through savings groups, Josefa has been able to hit her savings goals and purchase some livestock, and Agapito has learned about gender equality and the importance of contributing at home
Oxfam acknowledges the support of the Australian Government through the Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP).
