Two major earthquakes have struck Venezuela; an as-yet-undetermined number of deaths and injuries have been reported. There is severe property damage, disruptions to basic services, and emergency teams have been deployed to the affected areas.

This event compounds an already severe humanitarian crisis: as of early 2026, an estimated 7.9 million people in Venezuela were in need of humanitarian assistance. The current situation could further worsen the living conditions of thousands of people.

Our partners — local organizations working directly on the ground — are conducting initial assessments to determine the extent of the damage and the most urgent needs of the affected communities.

When a humanitarian crisis hits, it’s crucial the families facing these unimaginable challenges are supported fast to prevent further disaster. That’s why the International Crisis Fund exists.
