Close the Gap with the “30 for 2030” Challenge!

30for2030Challenge_Poster_2014_800x533

To close the gap in a generation, Indigenous health equality needs to be on top of the political agenda. By taking the 30 for 2030 challenge you’ll be joining thousands of others to remind the government of their commitments to Indigenous health.

The 30 for 2030 challenge is unique to the 2014 Close the Gap campaign.  By collecting 30 names and pledges, you’ll encourage others to show their support, and most importantly, involve them in the race to close the gap by 2030. The more pledges, means the more people, and to close the gap – we need an enormous amount of support from the Australian public.

Keeping Indigenous health equality at the top of the political agenda is vital if we want to close the life expectancy gap by 2030.

So, what are we asking the government to do?

  • commit to providing adequate and long-term financial resources to Indigenous health equality
  • implement a comprehensive National Action Plan
  • invest in real partnerships, to increase Indigenous participation and control around health services
  • address critical social issues of housing, education and self-determination that contribute to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health crisis.

How do you get involved? It’s easy!

Step 1: Download one or more pledge forms.

Step 2: Sign the pledge and get 30 of your friends, family, colleagues, or anyone else to sign.

Step 3: Take a photo of yourself or your friends holding up the pledge poster. Share it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #CloseTheGapDay

Step 4: Send your completed pledge forms to 132 Leicester St, Carlton VIC 3053.

You can also get involved by hosting a National Close the Gap Day event! Just like the 30 for 2030 pledge, a National Close the Gap Day event will demonstrate the power of the Australian community and promote awareness and encourage political action. It’s  fun and we’ll provide you with all the resources you need. Visit National Close the Gap Day to register your event.

Or, if you’re a student, you can also get involved by taking part in the National Close the Gap Day Student Photo Challenge. Every day during March 17 – 21 has a different theme and you can win some really great prizes. But, don’t forget to use the #ctgstudents hashtag! Check out the five themes and some ideas on what to snap on 3things.
