#SyriaCrisis Candlelight Vigil in Mafraq, Jordan

“The first step in the evolution of ethics is a sense of solidarity with other human beings” Albert Schweitzer

Jordanian human rights organization, ARDD-Legal Aid, will be hosting a candlelight vigil in Mafraq City, Jordan, on Thursday, March 14, in solidarity with the people of Syria.

ARDD-Legal Aid is the first Arab rights-based organization that is dedicated to fighting injustice through the promotion of human rights, democracy, and inclusive development in Jordan. The Syrian crisis has affected thousands of people and created an influx of refugees into Jordan. In this time of hardship ARDD-Legal Aid stands in solidarity with the Syrian people and works diligently for the voices of the refugees to be heard.

On March 14, the two year anniversary since the start of the crisis, ARDD-Legal Aid will bring together Syrian refugees and Jordanian citizens in unity and solidarity. They will stand together as one in this time of adversity and light a candle for the innocent lives lost and for the inner hope that Syria will be a country of peace and a safe haven for their citizens to return to.

While we unite here in Jordan in a moment of global solidarity we ask you to please join this cause. One way you can take part is by joining the virtual vigil happening on social media.

Donate a tweet or facebook message to #SyriaCrisisahead of Thursday and we will release them all at the same time on March 14 to strengthen our call for peace.

You can also visit syriavigil.org to find out if a vigil is taking place near you and for tips on how to organize your own vigil, no matter how small.

ARDD-Legal Aid takes pride in the human rights work that it presents and the partners that it works with. We realize that sometimes just listening to the cries of the refugees is a way to come closer together, but now we are using this opportunity to show our support and stand with our brothers and sisters in one united message of peace.
