Last year, thousands of Oxfam supporters like you signed a petition to call on the government to end modern slavery. Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to take an important step forward.

Oxfam Australia, together with International Justice Mission, has officially handed in this petition to the Attorney-General.

With 9,000 signatures, this is a powerful demonstration of public support for legislative reform of the Modern Slavery Act. Corporations must be held accountable for modern slavery occurring in their supply chains. These reforms would get us one step closer.

We were proud to stand alongside supporters and partners at the handover to ensure your message was heard. Special thanks to Manmeet (second from the right in the photo above), an Oxfam supporter who signed the petition, live in the Attorney-General's seat of Greenway, and joined us in person to hand the petition over.

At the heart of this campaign are the women who make our clothes. They deserve safe working conditions, fair treatment, and a living wage to support themselves and their families.

The time for action is overdue. We call on Attorney-General to listen to the chorus of voices across the community and deliver these reforms now.

Thank you to everyone who stood with us and supported this campaign.
