Syrian Refugee Crisis
The crisis in Syria has raged for over three years, during which time more than 160,000 people have been killed and nearly 3 million people, mostly women and children, have been forced to flee the country. This is a crisis of staggering proportions, one that requires a massive international humanitarian response. The families affected by this crisis are desperate to be free from violence and gain access to the aid they need.
Over 10.8 million people, half of Syria’s pre-war population, are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Of those, around 6.4 million people have been forced to flee their homes and remain trapped inside the country.
Oxfam has assisted more than 1.3 million people across Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt, but the crisis continues to escalate. The situation could go from bad to worse in the coming months unless increased funds for the humanitarian response are found.
With over 10 million Syrians in need of humanitarian aid, your donation is essential to help Oxfam provide access to food, water and sanitation. All families should have access to these life-saving basics. Please donate today.
Note: Should the funds raised exceed the amount required to meet the immediate and longer term needs of the people in the affected areas, Oxfam Australia will direct donations to our International Crisis Fund to enable us to rapidly address emergencies as they occur.
