Design for Change has been changing

Calling all troublemakers! Design for Change has been a busy little bee.

We’ve had a little face lift, check out the website. We’ve also been working hard with our students to develop design concepts to tackle fair trade and indigenous health. And we’ve just launched an exciting campaign for the summer.

Last week we kicked off our new conversation series ‘troublemakers’ with a one-hour talk about the creative process behind the award winning campaign Ending HIV.  We invited design heavy weight Vince Frost, CEO and Executive creative director of Frost*collective, and Principal Planner Yves Calmette from ACON to discuss the collaboration between a design and health advocacy agency.

The event highlight the need for clean and simple design that spoke effectively to the community and push for positive messaging.  Never fear if you missed the event, we’ll have a video online soon.Starting from November we’re calling all design troublemakers, those who champion good design and know that creativity is the essential ingredient for social change.

We’ll be hosting a series of public events exploring the many ways design and social justice intersect, collaborate, scheme and shake up public opinion. If you’re out looking for trouble, we have a load of events coming up in Sydney and Melbourne.

For all the Melbourne folks out there, we’re coming down to get into a bit of trouble with you too.

We’re hosting a design Christmas party with our partners in crime Thick. Join us for a few beers and provocative conversation about how designers can use their skills to solve global issue.

11 December, from 6pm at 4 Brunswick Pl, Fitzroy. RSVP essential.

Stay tuned for more events in 2015.
